Egypt is an important foreign and economic policy neighbor for Europe and Germany. Upon the invitation of the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and after carefully reviewing the legal framework, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung has decided to gradually resumed its engagement in Egypt after a ten-year interruption.

For the Foundation, it is a crucial issue to contribute to dialogue and exchange with important actors in the Egyptian society and politics. The Foundation's work in Egypt will start on several projects and under specific conditions, initially managed by the Regional Program Political Dialogue Southern Mediterranean.

The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung was present in Egypt from 1974 to 2013 until the office had to be closed in the context of a court case against American NGOs. The resumption of activities is possible again, after the court rulings were lifted in late 2018.
