KAF has, in collaboration with the National House of Chiefs, supported a Chieftaincy Research Project where initially in 20, later reduced to 16 traditional areas the lines of succession have been researched. Queries as to the line of succession are more often than not a source of conflict in traditional areas, even leading to violence with accompanying deaths.

After the research has been completed, the results of the 16 areas have been reconciled and put together in a consistent report.

On the basis of the results of the research project, the Legal Drafting Committee will now work out legislative instruments for the 16 traditional areas.
