Details

United Nations, Geneva

75 years after the multilateral international order was established through the foundation of the United Nations, it is now facing major challenges. Attacked by unilateralist leaders and faced with new global challenges such as climate change, the Covid pandemic and the rise of China as a world power, adaptation and renewal may now be necessary for the rules-based international order to further its global aims.

Topics for discussion will be: How can multilateralism adapt to the new challenges and ensure its relevance in the future global system? Will the arrival of Biden’s US administration herald a change in the US’s commitment to the multilateral institutions? What role should and will China play in the rules-based system?

Date: Tuesday, 22 June

Time: 17:00 - 19:00 (BST)
