Presentation of the Book: Opportunity Beckons

International Conference on Threats and Responses

The Central University of Jammu, Christ University Bengaluru and the Liaison Office India of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, in association with Jammu & Kashmir Police, organized a conference on “Trends in Non-Traditional Security” from April 19th till 21st, 2017 in Jammu. Among the participants of the three-day conference were experts from security, academia, science, civil service, and think-tanks. The conference took place as a follow-up to a conference on the same topic in Bangalore in September 2016.

The third TERI-KAS Resource Dialogue was organised by The Energy and Resource Institute (TERI) and the India Office of Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in Goa from April 11th till 13th. During the three day conference the political, economic and social dimensions of water security in India and the region were discussed.

All India Seminar of the Confederation of Indian Bar

On April 8th and 9th, the Confederation of Indian Bar (CIB), with the support of the Liaison Office India of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, organized a seminar titled “Economic Reforms with Reference to Electoral Issues”. The Inaugural Address was delivered by the Hon´ble President of India Shri Pranab Mukherjee. Among the speakers were the Honorable Justice J.S. Khehar, Chief Justice of India, and Honorable Justice Dipak Misra, senior most judge of the Supreme Court of India.

Attitudes, Anxieties and Aspirations of India´s Youth: Changing Patterns

Presentation of the 3rd Youth Study by CSDS and KAS India

On April 3rd, 2017, the Centre for the Study of Developing Societies (CSDS) and the Liaison Office India of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung released the third Youth Study in New Delhi. The presentation was attended by over 120 guests from politics, civil society, and media. This CSDS-KAS report presents the findings of a sample survey-based study on India’s young population (15-34-year-olds) conducted in April and May, 2016 and follows up on the previous Youth Studies from 2007 and 2013.

Study and Information Programme with MP Christian Hirte

From March 16th till 19th, 2017, the Liaison Office India of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, as part of its ongoing "Political Dialogue India", organised a study and information programme with German MP Christian Hirte. During the programme, Mr Hirte met leading representatives of Indian politics and civil society. Besides current political and economic issues, the programme contained preparatory talks on forming the Indo-German Lawyers' Forum.

On 14th December 2016, Institute for Defence and Studies Analyses (IDSA) in partnership with the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS), organized a lecture by Dr. Christian Wagner, Senior Fellow, German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP), who was in India from the last three Months and researched on the “Security Architecture in South Asia”. The event was chaired by Amb. Jayant Prasad, Director General and Co-Chaired by Prof. S. D. Muni, distinguished Fellow. Also present were experts and researchers from IDSA, some of them from other countries as well.
