The association of the growing economies of Brasil, Russia, India, China and South Africa represents 40 percent of the world’s population and, as of now, 25 percent of the world’s gross domestic product. Nevertheless, the chairman of the European Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee, Elmar Brok, doesn’t see the so-called BRICS states as competitors for Europe. “I am relatively relaxed by the potential threat of the BRICS for Europe”, Brok said at an event organized by the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in Berlin.

KAS-ICRIER Financial Sector Seminar III/2013

On 25.09.2013, KAS, in collaboration with ICRIER and FICCI conducted the 3rd seminar in the course of the quarterly workshop series on the “12th Five Year Plan: Regulations” in Kolkata. During the 3rd of altogether four workshops, experts discussed the macro-economic prospects and challenges of the current Five Year Plan (2012-2017) of the Indian Government, keeping in mind the aspect of Regulations and the implementation with an interested audience.

30th ANNUAL JOINT STAFF DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME (JSDP) in Chandigarh

The theme of this years´ 30th Joint Staff Development programme, which was organized by PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, was “Youth and Inclusive Growth”. The three day conference from 07.09.2013 to 10.09.2013 was held in Chandigarh and brought together experts and representatives from Politics, Economy and NGOs to discuss the problems as well as the chances for the Indian youth.

From 24. until 26. July, MdB Philipp Mißfelder, Member of the German Parliament and Spokesperson for Foreign Affairs for the Parliamentary Group of CDU/CSU in the German Bundestag, visited New Delhi in the context of a political dialogue programme. Together with Dr. Christian Forneck, Senior Foreign Policy Advisor for the Parliamentary Group of CDU/CSU he met high-ranking political and economic representatives.
