The Panchayati Raj Curriculum shall strengthen the possibilities of the rural population in India. Thus the local self-government and the capacities of the elected village councils will be reinforced.

Mani Shankar Aiyar, MP and former Union Minister of Panchayati Raj, released the complete manual in presence of members of different municipal administrations, elected village council members, NGO representatives, students and the KAS partner network. He explained that even though many states in India, especially in the South, are good examples for a successful integration of the representatives of the Panchayats, the Northern and North-Eastern states still have room for improvement.

Aiyar thanked the KAS and its partners for the support regarding the strengthening of the rights of the local population and suggested the translation of the Curriculum into various local languages.
