From September 28 to October 2, 2026, General (ret.) Erhard Bühler, President of the Clausewitz-Society, and Dr. Alexandra Sakaki, Deputy Head of the Asia Research Division at the Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik (SWP), travelled to Japan at the invitation of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung's Japan Office. The programme combined their participation in the 14th German-Japanese Defence and Security Technology Forum (organized by the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Japan in cooperation with the German Embassy in Tokyo) with a dense schedule of talks with representatives from Japanese think tanks, academia, and industry on the security challenges facing both countries.
