As part of the implementation of the SHEPOWER program, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, Morocco and Mauritania, and the Youth Centre for Research and Development organised from 15 to 19 March 2023 in Marrakech a training cycle under the theme Digital Media for Democracy.
This program targeted 20 young women leaders in the field of media, content creation and advocacy to equip them with the necessary skills to become agents of change in their communities.
The beneficiaries of the SHEPOWER program were introduced to both theoretical and practical aspects of media literacy to enable them to speak out on issues of concern at the local level and to work towards finding sustainable and positive responses.
The focus of the program was rich and complementary so that beneficiaries learned about the principles and practices of participatory democracy in Morocco, leadership, social influence and content creation techniques. The beneficiaries were also introduced to the art of photography and its techniques.
It should be noted that the ShePower program aims to achieve many objectives, including:
● Equipping women with basic media skills to objectively report on issues affecting their communities;
● Create a digital platform for young women to share and network through blogs and multimedia content.
This edition of the SHEPOWER programwill culminate in the creation of a new digital platform that will initially be powered by the program's laureates, and will then be accessible to all women to promote women's leadership, address issues of concern and freely express their opinions.
