The Wits Centre for Journalism
Wits Journalism is a programme for aspirant as well as working journalists. Located in the media metropolis Johannesburg it is well placed to work closely with the industry and working professionals to ensure a centre of teaching, training, research and public engagement. The department is steeped in a tradition of independent, critical and quality journalism. Courses are taught by journalists with many years of experience and seniority in the profession.

The Johannesburg Holocaust & Genocide Centre
The Johannesburg Holocaust & Genocide Centre (JHGC) was founded in 2008 and together with its sister Centres in Cape Town (est. 1999) and Durban (est. 2008), forms the South African Holocaust & Genocide Foundation (SAHGF). The JHGC is a member of the Association of Holocaust Organisations (AHO) comprising over 300 institutions worldwide. It is also a member of the International Association of Genocide Scholars (IAGS) and the Alliance Against Genocide.

Centre for Information Integrity in Africa
The Centre for Information Integrity in Africa (CINIA) is a research and competence centre based at Stellenbosch University, dedicated to combating disinformation and strengthening democratic information spaces across Africa. The organisation combines interdisciplinary research, support for investigative journalism, and public media education. CINIA develops workshops and programmes on media literacy, fact-checking, and digital security, and works closely with international partners. Its goal is to strengthen trust in information and build societal resilience against manipulation.

Meridian17
Meridian17 is a “think-and-do tank” that strengthens partnerships between Africa and Europe. The organisation combines research, policy analysis, media engagement, and dialogue formats to promote sustainable cooperation. At its core is the search for practical solutions to political, economic, and cultural collaboration. Through studies, events, and expert networks, Meridian17 contributes to addressing shared challenges across both continents and supports evidence-based policymaking.

Moxii Africa
Moxii Africa is the new identity of the former organisation Media Monitoring Africa (MMA) and is committed to fostering open and trustworthy information environments across the African continent. With a focus on media freedom, information integrity, digital security, and public awareness, Moxii Africa leverages technological, legal, and civil society tools. In doing so, the organisation responds to the growing challenges of digital disinformation, hate speech, and the erosion of public trust in the media. The new name, derived from “moxie” (courage and innovation), reflects its ambition to actively advocate for a fair and transparent information ecosystem.
