Conflict is imminent in today’s newsrooms. A Newsroom manager’s role is much broader than simply delivering a good product. They have to manage economic expectations, gender issues, a tight budget and political influence. That’s a big task.

KAS Media Africa and the GSMC are honoured to host 15 senior newsroom managers from across the continent for a week-long professional development course aimed at equipping them with much-needed conflict management and resolution tools. These 15 managers beat out over 140 other hopefuls to participate in this inaugural training, to be held in Nairobi, Kenya on the Aga Khan University campus.

The programme will be led by a team of senior media professionals with over 100 years of experience between them. Among the conveners are, Prof. Nancy Booker, interim Dean of GSMC, veteran Kenyan journalist, Joseph Odindo,  Wangethi Mwangi, non-Executive Director of the Nation Media Group and KAS Media Africa director, Christoph Plate.
