The all-inclusive Namibian House

How can the ideal of an all-inclusive house where no Namibian feels left out be achieved?

In order to discuss this complex question, KAS and cooperation partner FFF brought together more than 30 participants from all regions. The discussion was based on the document on "Our all-inclusive Namibian House" which originated from a FFF Workshop earlier this year.

The all-inclusive Namibian House is a metaphor that was introduced by H.E. Hage Geingob in his Inauguration speech in March last year. Since then, it has become a symbol for an ideal Namibian society in which no citizen feels left out and has a chance to participate on all levels.

But how can such an ideal be achieved, especially in a country with a historical, ethical and geographical diversity such as Namibia, where a "One size fits all"-solution is not applicable? In order to find answers to this question, the document on "Our all-inclusive Namibian House" will be made accessible to as many Namibians as possible in order for them to share and include their comments, ideas and visions and take ownership of it.

The workshop only marks the first step in this process though. The participants will now carry the document into their respective regions and facilitate their own workshops in their communities. Further, they will collect the comments and the feedback of the local participants. We therefore hope to end up with more than 30 drafts which will be collected and put together. The final document will summarize all the regional and local contributions and be made public by the end of this year.
