With a weekly, one hour airing of “Vision Nigeria” from locations in Abuja, Enugu, Kaduna and Port Harcourt, there is a wide range of topics, in relation to the long term development policy issues as well as current political events. In May 2012, KAS and partners will be focusing on these topics:

In Enugu Patrick Enyogai broadcasting: (Fridays 1- 2 PM at Coal city 92.8 FM)

-Nigeria launches the ID card. Can this contribute to greater security in regard to terrorism and crime? Prof. Obiora Ike discusses on May 4 new security policies.

-More than 250 ethnic groups live in Nigeria. Dr. Kris Onubulueze evaluates on May 11 with our listeners whether the formations of new states can contribute to the stability of the currently endangered most populous country in Africa. In addition financial implications will also be considered.

-Corruption. The ever present issue in Nigeria. Can civil society organisations at least mitigate against this in the private sector?On May 18 Comrade Osmond Ugwu will analyse possible strategies.

-Agencies such as the “Economic and Financial Crimes Commission“ (EFCC) or the “Independent Corrupt Practices Commission“ (ICPC) traditionally deals with the issue corruption. Their experience in the monitoring of illegal money flows now could help them, locate and stem sponsors of Boko Haram. Dr. Emma Okaparaeke takes on the subject on the 25th of May.

Colins Imoh in Port Harcourt: (Thursdays 3 – 4 PM Rivers 99.1 FM)

-The law regulating the oil industry (PIB) is to reform the sector. On May 2 Edward Obi and Sofiri Peterside will discuss socio – economic impacts in the oil rich Niger Delta.

-Early this year the government reduced its subsidies of gasoline drastically. The reason: the money should flow into schools and roads, thus contributing to the actual development of the country. A recent report revealed that some of the alleged subsidies went into the pockets of a few individuals.

Fraud worth billions of Naira. Vision Nigeria will discuss the issue on May 16 with our listeners.

Yanwaidi Zwahu in Kaduna: (Thursdays 5 – 6 PM at Capital Sound 90.9 FM)

-Nigeria celebrates 13 years 'continuous' democracy. In Kaduna we celebrate the 'Democratic Day' for three consecutive broadcasts on May 17, May 24 and May 31. The current situation is analyzed, as well as the development since 1999. What has changed for the population? Has the overall situation improved? Questions such as these will be answered with guests from various backgrounds. Including Barr. Festus Okoye, human rights activist, Dr Agom of the University of Kaduna and political economist Dr. Sadeeq Mod'd.
