Members of BYC, chosen due to their high social and academic commitment, are given the opportunity to further develop their individual capacities through various training programs.
The students are from all the five regions of the West Bank (Hebron, Bethlehem, Ramallah, Nablus and Jenin) and East-Jerusalem.
Rami Nasrallah, director of the IPCC, opened the meeting in the morning. He presented the aims set for the BYC and initiated a discussion with the BYC members on their vision for a future Palestinian state.
Bassam Al Walweel, executive vice-president of the Palestinian Telecommunications Group, fascinated the students by his passionate speech about youth leadership. He underlined his opinions by sharing his own life story as one of many children from a poor family from Tulkarem and his subsequent way to success.
Tamara Qasem from Hebron was chosen by the members of the BYC to speak in their name, thanking BYC initiators and coordinators. Her speech was followed by a joint lunch, during which the members of the BYC had the chance to interact and to exchange experiences and opinions.
Thomas Birringer, the resident representative of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung to the Palestinian Autonomous Territories, introduced the work of KAS in Palestine and expressed his continuous support for the BYC and his wish to take, through the BYC, a little step forward towards the realization of a democratic and viable Palestinian state.
The general committee meeting was concluded by a ceremony, during which
Thomas Birringer, Bassam Al Walweel, Rami Nasrallah and Adeeb Saleem handed out membership cards and certificates to the BYC members.
