KABLALAN Peace Monitor - June 2008

The KABLALAN Peace Monitor, a monthly newsletter publication of the Government of the Republic of the Philippines (GRP) and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) Coordinating Committees on the Cessation of Hostilities (CCCH) under the leadership of the International Monitoring Team (IMT), was launched in 2006. The newsletter aims to inform local communities on various peace-building activities and efforts in Mindanao, as well as monitors the progress in the on-going peace process. KABLALAN has been supported by KAS and the Institute for Autonomy and Governance (IAG) in Cotabato City since its launching.

A short collection of several separate articles written by top academics and experts who are involved with the Peace Process. Since the halt in peace negotiations in Mindanao since the failure to sign the Memorandum of Agreement on Ancestral Domain (MoA-AD) between the Government of the Republic of the Philippines and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), experts examine the implications of the failure and the future steps necessary to continue on towards attaining peace in Mindanao.

The book surveys political ads coupled with research and interviews with campaigners as part of Newsbreak’s continuing assessment on the role of media and political advertising in the election outcome since its reintroduction in the Philippines in 2001.
