From 19 - 25 February 2014 the KAS Asia and Pacific Team conference took place in Manila, Philippines. The topic of this year's conference was 'Asia’s rise: Challenges for Germany and Europe and the work of KAS in the region'. For this occasion, the Chairman of KAS, Dr. Hans-Gert Pöttering MEP, also traveled to Manila. It was a special honor for him when he received the Honorary Doctorate (Doctor of Humanities) from the Ateneo de Manila University on 19 February 2014. With this he was honored for his longstanding commitment for European integration and for his contribution to inter-cultural and inter-religious dialogue.
