The Philippine Elections: So What? Now What?

The Philippine National Elections will take place on May 9, 2022. Filipinos will cast their votes to elect the new President to replace the incumbent President Rodrigo Duterte. Given its membership and significant role in ASEAN, the new Philippine President, more or less, will have a certain impact on the foreign policy towards Southeast Asia.

As an international political think-tank, KAS Cambodia is pleased to co-host a special guest lecture with the Department of International Studies (DIS) of the Royal University of Phnom Penh on the Philippine National Elections 2022. This lecture will provide an opportunity to explore the ongoing mutations affecting the political landscape in the Philippines, major political parties, political culture, and the implications of such election for the Philippines, ASEAN, and the rest of the world.
