The world is becoming increasingly digital, bit by bit. The digital transformation poses new challenges to societies while opening up unknown opportunities, especially for women and young people. In the context of the Women4Mediterranean Conference Women build inclusive societies of the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) from 9.-11. October in Lisbon, Portugal, 26 young NGO representatives from 20 European and Mediterranean countries prepared a joint statement and policy recommendations presented at the UfM High Level Conference.

Following discussions on the opportunities and risks for young people in a digitized world and the role of politics in the digital transformation, the youth delegation formulated a joint statement with policy recommendations coming out of four thematic working groups. The declaration was then presented by two representatives of the youth forum to the subsequent Women4Mediterranean conference.
