Ninth Regional Environmentally Sustainable Transport (EST) Forum in Asia 2015
150 particpants from all over Asia joined in Kathmandu on the occasion of the Ninth Regional Environmentally Sustainable Transport (EST) Forum in Asia 2015. KAS RECAP in cooperation with Partnership on Sustainable, Low Carbon Transport (SLoCaT) organized a side event on sustainable transport, preparing recommendations for COP21 in Paris.
Energy Security and Climate Change in South Asia
Planning conference with the KAS partner Centre for South Asian Studies (CSAS)
In these days, South Asia is already very strongly affected by the impacts of climate change. How can the social and economic development in the region being oriented at new climate friendly energy politics? How can the ability of resilience of those nations towards the already visible negative effects of climate change being strengthened?A workshop organised by KAS RECAP and the KAS partner Centre for South Asian Studies (CSAS) in Kathmandu/Nepal assembled delegates of South Asian think tanks in order to discuss approaches for RECAP projets in the coming years.
Energy Storage Summit Japan 2015
The production and storage of renewable energies is crucial to achieve low-carbon societies. The KAS regional project energy security and climate change (RECAP) and Messe Düsseldorf co-organised the Energy Storage Summit 2015 Japan to discuss the current and future contribution of energy storage systems (ESS) to the energy transformation in Germany, Japan and the United States. In the Energy Storage Summit in Tokyo on 11-12 November 2015, the political framework and business models of future energy storage solutions in Europe and Asia were discussed.
Changing global gas markets
KAS RECAP jointly organized an international workshop on the future of global gas markets together with the European Center for Energy and Resource security (EUCERS), London, the Energy Studies Institute (ESI), Singapore, and the Atlantic Council, Washington.

Understanding the UN Climate Change Conference COP21 in Paris
Simulation game for international students
The upcoming UN climate change conference COP21 in Paris was an important milestone for developing global sustainable climate politics. Over 50 international students simulated the climate negotiations at an event organised by KAS RECAP and the Hong Kong-America Center. In a first part of the workshop, climate experts and diplomats presented the position of their countries in regard to climate politics. As a second step groups of students representing different "countries" drafted position papers and presented them to the plenum to achieve a global compromise on a new climate change regime.

Exhibition about successful concepts of sustainable urban planning based on the example of Hamburg
Successful concepts of sustainable urban development in Europe are presented in a public exhibition at Hong Kong City Gallery with support of KAS RECAP. During the inauguration on 15th October 2015 diplomatic representatives from Europe and the Hong Kong government expressed their wish for a strengthened cooperation on innovative urban planning projects.
