Details

The event consists of three phases, in which around 60 students from universities of Hong Kong and Macao will

  1. be introduced in the international negotiation process by renowned climate experts and diplomats
  2. simulate parts of the negotiations by themselves as "representatives" of different nations
  3. evaluate with experts the results of COP21 upon completion of the summit.

The event starts on 24th October 2015 with an all-day briefing by experienced climate diplomats, representatives of the diplomatic corps in Hong Kong and employees of non-governmental organisations.

In November 2015, the students will act as representatives of important industrial and developing countries. Based on the draft negotiation text of the UNFCCC they will try to achieve the targets and strategies of "their" countries.

Immediately after the completion of the climate summit on 11th December 2015 in Paris official participants of COP21 will report directly to the participants of the simulation game about the outcomings and discuss the results.
