Interest in Islamic financial products have increased considerably since the beginning of the financial crisis. Some like Michael Saleh Gassner, who certifies Islamic financial products on behalf of the German Central Muslim Council, are of the opinion that Islamic Finance could have avoided the ongoing crisis. Gassner repeatedly stated in the past:"If the world of finance had only abidden by Islamic rules, the U.S. real estate crisis would have not happened in it's present form." He argues that Islamic investment rules are clear and transparent: The utmost principles are justice, fairness and the upholding of individual freedom and social responsibility.
