Both Saudi Arabia and Germany face the challenge of empowering their youth to navigate in an increasingly complex, globalised world. Both countries share concerns about the employment situation of their youth; in the Kingdom, new job opportunities as well as diversification of the private sector and the job market will be essential for future economic progress.

Through its “Vision 2030” Saudi Arabia seeks to ameliorate its economic outlook, not least by embedding its younger generation better in social and economic development. Thus, young Saudis are challenged to impact and shape the economic future of their country and to create new opportunities for maintaining wealth and economic stability.

Against this background, this study programme aims to provide Saudi youths with an occasion to exchange ideas with their German counterparts on how to create opportunities and how to educate, support, and better invest in a generation of future leaders. The participants will gain insights into German approaches dealing with economic challenges and youth development.

Among the dialogue partners will be the dynamic, vibrant start-up scene of Berlin, industry and trade associations, as well as actors who shape the economic policy-framework, such as the German Bundestag, the Ministry of Economy but also interest groups, like the Junior Chamber International Germany and the German-Arab Chamber of Commerce. Meeting with these different bodies, students can substantiate their knowledge about crucial factors promoting social entrepreneurship and creating an environment conducive to start-ups and SMEs. Moreover, they will gain insights into decision-making processes in Germany and the impact of legislation and regulations on economic development.
