In view of the different European and Arab concepts and

interests of philanthropy and Development Cooperation the

workshop will examine innovative and more sustainable ways of

cooperation with a focus on the interaction between donors from

Gulf countries and communities in sub- economic environments

in Africa. We are particularly interested in exploring how

support for growth and progress can be encouraged at a

community level, which must be organized so as to encourage

private actors to play a more proactive role in fostering

entrepreneurship and economic growth.

The series of panels and presentations will emphasize how ideas,

mindsets, and paradigms must change, how the social structures,

organizations, and institutions that promote interaction and

facilitate collaboration should be structures, and finally how local

government might be reformed.
