The event, coordinated by John Lloyd, Contributing Editor at the Financial Times and Co-founder of the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism (University of Oxford), will focus on the theme “Journalism in a Time of Turbulence.”
The KAS panel brings together five media experts from Romania and Germany to discuss about safeguarding democracy in times of crisis, amplified by social networks. The discussion will touch on democratic and civic resilience and the use of media tools to counter disinformation and false narratives.
The panel will try to respond to the question, can democracy be protected? does it have the necessary tools to face global authoritarian and illiberal pressures?
