Local Government Training: Training of local councillors and ward committee members provided by the KAS-partner Democracy Development Programme (DDP);

Constitutional Adjudication: Development of an Internet-Database with analysed constitutional court rulings and publishing of a manual for magistrates;

Greener Governance: Capacity-building amongst municipal managers focusing on sustainable urban planning and creation of a cities-network in the region. Training of environmental auditors on local level to be used in a "peer review process";

Race and Redress: Research and workshop series dealing with the topic "Rassism in South Africa after ten years of democratisation and how to deal with it";

2. Party Democracy

Party Coalition Building: Research focusing on party coalition-building in South Africa and the region. Seminar with political parties and development of a manual;

Dismanteling One-Party Dominance: Comparative Study (India, Mexico, South Africa) and Publication.

3. Political Dialogue and Conflict Prevention

Land Reform Survey: Dissemination of the Landreform Survey results. National conference, workshops in selected provinces and publication;

Islam in South Africa: Research focusing on the political profile of Islam in South and Southern Africa;

4. Regional Integration

Global Best Practices: Documentation of global "success stories" in politics, economy and society for the possible adaption on the region (Promotion of SADC and NEPAD);

EU-Enlargement: Research focusing on the consequences of the EU-Enlargement for German and European Africa policy.
