The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) and the South African Institute of International Affairs (SAIIA) are pleased to announce that applications for the 2027 KAS-SAIIA Scholarship Programme are now open.
This prestigious scholarship offers talented young South Africans the opportunity to complete a full-year internship at SAIIA while pursuing a Master's degree in one of the following fields:
- International Relations
- Political Science
- Economics
- Law
- Journalism
Master's studies must be undertaken at one of the programme's partner universities:
- University of the Witwatersrand (Wits)
- University of Cape Town (UCT)
- Stellenbosch University
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
- Meet the admission requirements for a Master's degree at one of the partner universities;
- Be South African residents or eligible for residency status;
- Be younger than 30 years of age.
Scholarship Benefits
Successful candidates will receive:
- Full tuition support for their Master's degree;
- A monthly stipend to assist with living and accommodation expenses;
- Mentorship from experienced professionals;
- Access to a strong and active alumni network.
The programme is output-focused and designed to develop future leaders in public policy, academia, business, media, and civil society. Alumni of the programme have gone on to occupy influential positions across both the public and private sectors.
