Voting is the foundation of democracy and the most powerful action an individual can take to hold leaders accountable. To keep our democracy healthy and robust, citizen participation is essential.
Featured Presentations:
- Talya Beyers will present the latest results from the Pledge to Vote Campaign, an initiative dedicated to halting and ultimately reversing the decline in voter turnout.
- Nickolaus Bauer will discuss his latest book, South Africa’s Easy Elections Guide 2026: Local Government Edition.
The book explains how local government elections differ from national and provincial contests, and why they matter. It provides a practical overview of the political landscape shaping South Africa’s major metros, as well as key districts and local municipalities. Focusing on parties, candidates and governance at a municipal level, it equips voters with the knowledge needed to make informed decisions in a complex and often overlooked electoral arena.
