The Model of the Social Market Economy as an Opportunity for Tanzania

SENSITIZATION FOR SMALL & MEDIUM BUSINESS ASWELL AS THE PRIVATE STAKEHOLDERS

The National Economic Empowerment Council (NEEC) in close collaboration with Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) organized a workshop on 22nd November 2019. The purpose was to sensitize business and private sector stakeholders on the concept of Social Market Economy (SME) in a Tanzanian perspective. One hundred participants attended the workshop.

Digitalization in East Africa

Connectivity, the use of internet services and their implications for the people

From 7th to 10th of November 2019 the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) and The Launch Pad held a conference on Digitalization in East Africa. The Event was attended by 80 participants from Kenya, Uganda and Tanzania. This fruitful conference started with an introductory opening session for all participants followed by four panels were each par-ticipant choose between two topics.

Women Rights according to the Qur’an

On November 2nd 2019, Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) held a workshop with the Zanzibar Female Lawyer Association (ZAFELA) to launch the Book “Haki za wanawake kwa mujibu wa Qur’an na Sunnah za mtume (S.A.M.)”. This Book on Women Rights according to the Qur’an was launched and introduced to the members of ZAFELA in Unguja

A JOINT WORKSHOP BETWEEN WAWATA AND JUWAKITA IN DAR ES SALAAM

On 19th and 20th of October 2019, Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) held a workshop with the Catholic Women of Tanzania (WAWATA) and the Association of Muslim Women (JUWAKITA) on the Rights of Women. 80 Women from all over Tanzania participated. This Joint workshop was a continuity of two separate workshops that took place in the year 2018.

SOCIAL MARKET ECONOMY AS A GATEWAY TO ENTREPRENEURSHIP - Kasulu

The Civic Education Forum in Tanzania (CETA) and the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) organised a joint workshop in Kasulu, Kigoma region on 27 and 28 September 2019. The theme of the event was “Social Market Economy as a Gateway to Entrepreneurship”. More than 600 students ― from secondary schools and higher learning institutions as well as universities students from Kasulu and from outside Kasulu attended.

Social Market Economy Tanzania and it’s Inclusion in Teaching

On the 24th of August 2019, the Civic Education Forum in Tanzania (CETA) and Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) organised a joint teacher’s symposium in Dar es Salaam on the topic of “Social Market Economy Tanzania and its inclusion in teaching”. More than 250 teachers, from Secondary Schools in Dar es Salaam attended the event.

Opportunities for young Women in Tanzania

On the 26th August 2019, the Bethsaida Girls Secondary School and Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) organised a joint panel discussion in Dar es Salaam. The discussion was about the opportunities for young women in Tanzania. Three successful young women from different professions were invited as panelists, to speak to the Secondary School for orphan girls about their experiences and obstacles they had to overcome in their professional lives. 119 students participated in the discussion.

Peace and Justice Youth Workshop

On the 31 of July 2019, Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) welcomed 15 youth from Youth of United Nations Association (YUNA) in Tanzania and JugendInterKult e.V. from Germany. Together they participated on a joint workshop about peace and justice.

SMET Model Book Launch

From Thursday 11th July 2019 to Friday 12th July 2019, the Tanzania Episcopal Conference (TEC), the Muslim Council of Tanzania (BAKWATA), the Christian Council of Tanzania (CCT) and the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) jointly organised a Roundtable Discus-sion for Religious Leaders and the Launch of the book “Social Market Economy as a Gateway to Industrialization”.

CETA JOURNAL VOLUME 17, CIVICS AND GENERAL STUDIES

This is a publication of the symposia on “Economic Order in Tanzania: Principles, Opportunities and Challenges of Social Market Economy”. It was organised by CETA and KAS aiming at mobilising understanding and discussion of opportunities as well as challenges for Tanzania's economy. The Symposia (volume 17) was attenden by university/college students and secondary school students in Dar es Salaam, Dodoma and Mwanza.
