Details

The “Young Leaders Think Tank for Policy Alternatives” (Think Tank) is an initiative of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung to enhance youth participation in governance and policy formulation in Uganda. The Think Tank is a group of highly qualified and committed young Ugandans, who interact and work together on a regular basis to analyze policy issues and develop policy alternatives from the perspective of the young generation. The group members lead by example in the promotion of issue-based and constructive dialogue and debate, adhering to the guiding principles of tolerance and objectivity.

In Feb 2015, the think tank brought on board and trained 5 new members with different professional backgrounds. A new set of minimum standards was adopted by the think tank members with guidance from a visiting expert from EPRC. With this, the think tank came up with two topical issues on Agriculture and the East African Integration. This meeting is a follow up of the first meeting for 2015. It serves the purpose of concretizing the planning process as well as review the progress so far attained by the two working groups on the above mentioned topics. As a way of further strengthening the capacities of the think tank members, an expert and influential policy person will make a presentation on how to make inroads to the policy agenda of government as well as understanding the policy making process in government. It is also expected to give an opportunity to the two working groups to give an update and discuss the way forward for the policy papers.
