First Y4P Innovation Cohort Graduates!

We are proud to announce the graduation of the first Y4P Innovation Fellowship Cohort—an initiative to strengthen Uganda’s innovation ecosystem through sector-specific policy paper development.

The Y4P Innovation Fellowship aimed to develop capacity for innovation policy development among young professionals while producing valuable research to address challenges in Uganda's innovation ecosystem. Conceptualized and implemented through a partnership between the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung Uganda and South Sudan and StartHub Africa, the fellowship was structured to enable highly qualified individuals to conduct valuable research and come up with useful and high-quality policy papers that add value to the regulations around the Ugandan Innovation Ecosystem.

 

Out of a highly competitive pool of 126 applicants, 6 exceptionally talented young professionals graduated as the first cohort of the Y4P Innovation Fellowship:

 

  1.  Aaron Joel Kaleeba (Lawyer) on “Policy Barriers to Venture Capital in Uganda's Start-up Ecosystem”
  2.  Donald Maasa (Lawyer/Founder) on “Hatching Unicorns: Policy Perspectives Towards Advancing Uganda's Startup Ecosystem”
  3. Emmanuel Akandwanaho (Tech Entrepreneur/ Founder) on “A Review of the Science, Technology and Innovation Policy”
  4. Janice Celine Nantumbwe (Lawyer) on “Promoting the Domestic Manufacture of Pharmaceutical Products in Uganda”
  5. Matthias Mulumba (Policy Analyst / Researcher) on “Financial Constraints for Startups in Uganda”
  6. Tusiime Kenneth (Software Engineer) on “Fostering Digital Transformation: Policy Recommendations for Uganda's ICT Sector”
