Lithuania has recently become the 19th member of the Eurozone. But concerns still remain about Greece's retention in the Eurozone and the disconcerting macroeconomic figures, which are causing tension among member states. With the upcoming new elections in Greece, the monetary union has no time to rest. Federal Parliamentary State Secretary for Finance Steffen Kampeter will meet with US Congressmen and experts from economics, international organizations, and think tanks during his visit to Washington, DC to discuss the financial and economic development in Europe. He will also use this opportunity to present his viewpoints on transatlantic topics.
Among other scheduled events is an expert round table titled "„The Future of the Euro, Take Two: The View from Berlin”, which is being organized by the KAS in cooperation with the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). Additionally, the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP), will be central to the discussions throughout his visit.
