With the Minsk II ceasefire in eastern Ukraine looking increasingly shaky, Europe risks a frozen conflict for years to come. However, is Putin finished in Ukraine? Can the United States in Europe expect more aggression from the Kremlin or is consolidation Russia’s strategy now? What do the future of Russian relations with the European Union and Germany look like and what role do sanctions play in this calculation? Perhaps nobody in Brussels is in a better position to answer these and other question about Europe’s relationship with Russia than Elmar Brok, Chairman of the European Parliament’s Committee on Foreign Affairs.

European People’s Party (EPP) and a member of the Federal Committee of the German Christian Democratic Union (CDU). Brok has received the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of German and was recognized as “Commander of the Gregorius-Order” by Pope John Paul II in 2002.
