A panel of German political experts will travel to Washington, DC, to offer analysis and insight following the German federal elections held on Sunday, September 22.

The speakers have been invited by the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung and will be hosted by the Council on Foreign Relations for a luncheon discussion as part of CFR’s Pieter A. Fisher roundtable series. The panel will focus their timely remarks on the implications for Germany’s international policies and the country’s global role.

The members of the panel are:

• His Excellency Eckart von Klaeden, Minister of State to the Federal Chancellor and a Member of the Federal

Executive Board of the Christian Democratic Union;

• His Excellency Guido Beermann, Permanent Secretary in Berlin’s Senate Department for Economics, Technology,

and Research;

• Mr. Thorsten Alsleben, Capital Representative and Director of Political Relations at Kienbaum Consultants

International and a former longtime political correspondent with ZDF-Studio Berlin.

The three speakers will offer opening remarks, followed by a general discussion. This event will be by invitation only.
