The most entertaining live format for journalists is coming to Africa once again. Reporter Slam Africa 2026 will take place this year in Kampala, Uganda, continuing a growing tradition of celebrating investigative journalism through bold, engaging storytelling.
On 13 March 2026, Kampala will become the stage for a lively showdown as six journalists from Sub-Saharan Africa present their work in front of a live audience. Each slammer has ten minutes to bring their story to life – offering behind-the-scenes insights into their research while blending hard facts with creativity, humour, and performance.
Following the success of previous editions in Cape Town (2024) and Lagos (2025), Reporter Slam Africa travels this year to Uganda, the home country of last year’s winner, Yaddah Wanjiku Nduati. The event continues to grow as a platform that celebrates journalistic excellence, originality, and the power of storytelling to engage the public.
The audience plays a central role in the competition. Both the on-site audience and online viewers via livestream will vote for their favourite performance, ultimately deciding who will be crowned the Reporter Slam Africa Champion 2026.
