The debate about the European migration and refugee policy shows no signs of coming to an end, neither at the EU level nor within the member states, although, the migration figures have dramatically decreased, the administrative chaos is resolved and humanitarian emergencies are overcome. Where does the EU stand now? What is the strategy of the EU three years after the migration and refugee crisis? What are the current and future challenges and is the EU prepared for them? This paper explains the global context and analyses the existing system – with a focus on the most recent reforms.
