On December 11th 2025, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Media Programme SEE and the Sofia Security Forum will host the international conference “Strategic Communications in South-East Europe: The Way Ahead” in Sofia, Bulgaria. The event will bring together approximately 100 high-level participants to discuss how Strategic Communications can strengthen democratic resilience and counter disinformation in the region.
The conference will feature a keynote speech by Ambassador Boris Ruge, NATO Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy. Expert panels will examine current challenges including disinformation, institutional coordination, and the gap between tactical media approaches and strategic governance functions. The conference aims to facilitate regional dialogue among government communicators, media organizations, fact-checkers, civil society, and the diplomatic community, working toward a joint roadmap for enhanced cooperation in Strategic Communications across South-East Europe.
