The three countries of the Maghreb region have shown an increasing appetite to develop a transactional relationship with the EU over the last years.

25 selected participants will follow a well-tailored program cycle throughout 2022-2023 with a series of trainings to strengthen organizational and functional capabilities of CSOs and young members of political parties. The program will also focus on individual skill training such as communication and negotiation. The training series will be finalized with a study trip to Germany.

Libya at the crossroads. What Europe and the international community can do

Rome MED Dialogues 2021

This panel, organized in the framework of the Rome MED Dialogues, represents the final phase of the Libya Proxy War Network project, developed by the ECFR Rome Office with the support of the Regional Political Dialogue South Mediterranean of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS PolDiMed) and the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. This initiative, inspired by the practice of track-two diplomacy, consisted of several closed-door meetings attended by scholars and analysts from the countries most engaged in Libya. The goal of these meetings was to shed light on the different visions and interests currently at play in the country and to find pragmatic solutions to the Libyan conundrum. The main findings and insights that emerged from the various meetings held between October 2020 and June 2021 were expanded and elaborated in a final note that explores the relevance and depth of foreign actors' involvement in the Libyan crisis and then goes through the positions of some of the main international stakeholders and finally provides some policy recommendations for the EU strategy in Libya.

Rome MED 2021

Dieses Panel, das im Rahmen der Rome MED Dialogues organisiert wurde, stellte die letzte Phase des Libya Proxy War Network-Projekts dar, das vom ECFR-Büro in Rom mit Unterstützung des Regionalprogramms Politischer Dialog Südliches Mittelmeer der Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS PolDiMed) und des italienischen Ministeriums für auswärtige Angelegenheiten und internationale Zusammenarbeit entwickelt wurde. Diese Initiative, die sich an der Praxis der track-two-Diplomatie orientiert, bestand aus mehreren Klausurtagungen, an denen Wissenschaftler und Analysten aus den in Libyen am stärksten engagierten Ländern teilnahmen. Die Podiumsdiskussion bei den MED-Dialogen in Rom war mit den renommierten Experten und Fachleuten Stephanie Williams, Jose Sabadell, Tarek Megerisi, Galip Dalay, Mary Fitzgerald und Giampiero Massolo gut besetzt.

10 years after the Arab revolutions

The Konrad Adenauer Stiftung organised, in partnership with the political science university of Aix-en-Provence (SciencesPo Aix) and Aix Marseille University’s Institute for Advanced Study (IMéRA), the 4th edition of the Franco-German Mediterranean forum. This year’s edition was entitled “10 years after the Arab revolutions” and was organised at SciencesPo Aix, from 24 to 26 of November 2021.

August 2021 fand ein Online-Seminar statt, um die Bedeutung von Familienunternehmen für den wirtschaftlichen Fortschritt zu erörtern und die Rolle, die sie in Deutschland als Rückgrat der Wirtschaft spielen, sowie ihr Potenzial für den sich erholenden libyschen Markt hervorzuheben. Die hochinteressante Veranstaltung, an der zahlreiche libysche Familienunternehmer teilnahmen, stand unter der Schirmherrschaft von S.E. Salama Gwil, libyscher Staatsminister für Wirtschaft.
