AI in Cyber Warfare: A New Challenger in The Mediterranean Battlefields - Regionalprogramm Politischer Dialog und regionale Integration im Südlichen Mittelmeer
To explore cybersecurity collaboration between the two shores of the Mediterranean, the virtual event enabled a discussion on the cybersecurity challenges in order to shape the debate and to inform potential steps forward. The webinar proceeded as follows:
- Discussing what cybersecurity is, its components, and various risks to national security.
- Assessing cyberwarfare in the south Mediterranean.
- Providing an overview of the cybersecurity policies, the case of Tunisia.
The online seminar was designed in an interactive format to allow attendees’ engagement. The first part of the discussions undertook the analysis of risks resulting from the rise of big data and machine learning; including privacy, threat of unauthorized access to data, unintended inferences, the extension of the attack surface of already vulnerable digital infrastructures. During the discussion, panelists underlined that even though Artificial Intelligence has the potential to impart several advantages in the context, it may also introduce distinct challenges.
The event was concluded with a Q&A session that gave participants the opportunity to interact with the experts following their interventions and recommendations.
