BJP representatives visit CDU’s 31st Party Congress

On 7th and 8th December 2018, the 31st Party Congress of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) took place in Hamburg, Germany. The agenda was particularly highlighted by the election of the new Party President after Dr. Angela Merkel’s announcement a couple of weeks earlier that she would resume the position which she held for 18 years. In this context, the BJP nominated a delegation of three functionaries which was accompanied by Peter Rimmele, Resident Representative of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) in India to participate at this important event with the overarching goal to improve Indo-German cooperation on the party-level. The Indian delegation consisted of Mr. Vijai Chauthaiwale, Head of Foreign Cell at BJP, Mr. Nalin Kohli, National Spokesperson of the BJP and Dr. Anirban Ganguly, Director of the Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee Research Foundation.

FSI-KAS: “Indo-US Relations in a Changing World- Implications for Europe and India”

On 4th December, 2018 Forum for Strategic Initiatives (FSI) and the Konrad- Adenauer- Stiftung (KAS) organised a seminar on “Indo-US Relations in a Changing World- Implications for Europe and India”. The Seminar was based on transformative changes that have impacted Indo-Pacific region.

The Ninth Biennial International Conference on “Asia in Transition”

CRRID, IAAPS and KAS organized a two-day Ninth Biennial International Conference on 1 and 2 November at CRRID. In the inaugural session, Dr. Rashpal Malhotra, Executive Vice Chairman of CRRID Chandigarh, emphasised the relevance of the theme in contemporary international politics. He pointed out the necessity to move on from transition to transformation through the route of peace, harmony and unified agenda.

On 26th of October 2018, a dinner discussion was organized by the KAS India office between Fellows of The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) and members of the German Federal Security Policy (BAKS) delegation on the impact of climate change on security politics.

Study and Dialogue Programme for Professor Dr. Lammert and Dr. Wahlers in India

From 15th to 20th October 2018, the India Office of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) welcomed two high-ranking guests. Professor Dr. Norbert Lammert, the Chairman of the Foundation and former President of the German Parliament, as well as Dr. Gerhard Wahlers, the Deputy Secretary-General and Head of the International and European Cooperation Department, visited Delhi and Kolkata. During their stay, they met with several political representatives of the major parties in India as well as with civil society and church representatives.

Study and Dialogue Programme for young Indian Politicians

From 23 to 28 September, 12 young politicians from different states of India visited Berlin as part of a study and dialogue programme, where they discussed current political developments and learned about the organization and functioning of German political institutions, the CDU and Junge Union.

New batch of students at SPJS all set to find new horizons

Introduction of 11th batch at Statesman Print Journalism School

On August 16, 2018, the Statesman Print Journalism School (SPJS) saw its new batch of budding journalists for its one-year journalism program. The SPJS, which was founded in 2008 and is supported by the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS), aims at training young journalists to become competent, well-informed, liberal-minded journalists who would become ambassadors of India's democratic institutions and free press.

Strengthening Indo-German Ties - IPR and Legal Cooperation

On August 9, 2018, the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry (FICCI) and the India Office of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung held a seminar on the role of intellectual property protection and the potential for the Indo-German relations as part of the FICCI-KAS policy dialogue series. In addition, the KAS co-initiated and supported association "Indo-German Association for Legal Cooperation (IGAL)" was officially launched in India that evening.
