Political Dialogue Programme

SME Promotion in India and Germany

From 18 to 20 January 2016, the KAS Liaison Office India organized a dialogue programme in Chandigarh and New Delhi on the topic "SME Promotion in India and Germany". Participants in the programme were Tobias Zech, Member of the German Parliament and Member of the Committee on Labour and Social Affairs and of the Committee on Economic Cooperation and Development as well as Member of the Parliamentary Assembly of the European Council and Albert Stegemann, Member of the German Parliament and Member of the Committee for Labour and Social Affairs.

BJP-Delegation at CDU Party Congress

Organised by the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung India, a delegation of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) visited the Party Congress of the CDU in Karlsruhe, Germany, between December 12th and 15th. The visit of the delegation, led by Bhupender Yadav, National General Secretary of the BJP and Member of Parliament, was a step towards strengthening party-to-party cooperation.

Media: A Crisis of Credibility

Seventh Editor's Conclave

The Editor's Conclave, commonly organised by the C. R. Irani Foundation and the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung took place between December 9 and 11 in Kolkata. Topic of the conference, held for the seventh time, was the credibility crisis of media in India and globally. The opening speech was given by Krishnan Srinivasan, former Foreign secretary of India and former Deputy General-Secretary of the Commonwealth of Nations. The keynote speech was given by veteran journalist and book author Dr Michael Lüders, who after the conference held a seminar at the Statesman Print Journalism School (SPJS).

Preperatory Seminar for the 2nd Indo-German Judicial Dialogue

During a preparatory seminar for the planned 2nd Indo-German Judicial Dialogue between the highest judges of India and Germany, Professor Dr Rudolf Mellinghoff, President of the Federal Finance Court of Germany and former Judge at the Federal Constitutional Court of Germany, met six Judges of the Supreme Court of India, among them the newly appointed Chief Judge T. S. Thakur.

Capacity-building for young politicians

Young Group of the CDU/CSU parliamentary group in India

Between October 25th and 30th, 14 members of the German parliament visited India as part of a dialogue and conference programme. The trip led them to the Indian capital New Delhi and to Bengaluru. They met representatives of politics, economy, science, and the church. Focus points of the visit were chances of Indo-German economic cooperation, education of the youth, promotion of renewable energy, and youth politics.

The ADB Annual Meeting 2016 in Frankfurt

On October 5th, the Liaison Office India of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) organized an expert round table discussion in run-up to the Annual Meeting of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) 2016 in Frankfurt. Main speaker was Hans-Joachim Fuchtel, Parliamentary State Secretary in the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany, Member of the German Parliament, Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Asian Development Bank, as well as German Governor for the Asian Development Bank.

An Opportunity for Global Supply Chains

During his visit to India, Parliamentary State Secretary in the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development of the Federal Republic of Germany, Mr. Hans-Joachim Fuchtel, presented the Partnership on Sustainable Textiles as a tool to improve the conditions in the global textile industry on October 5, 2015, in front of representatives of the Indian economy and the government. The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) in cooperation with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI) organized this event at the sidelines of the Indo-German Government Consultations.

Am 16. und 17. September veranstaltete das Auslandsbüro Indien der Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung und The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) gemeinsam eine Fachkonferenz zum globalen Ressourcenhandel. Experten aus Indien und dem Ausland hatten Gelegenheit, sich zu Fragen des Rechtsrahmens, den unterschiedlichen nationalen Ansätzen bei der Gesetzgebung und hinsichtlich der globalen geostrategischen Herausforderungen auszutauschen.

From 1st to 5th September KAS Liaison Office India together with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry organized a dialogue programme for a group of high-level Members of Parliament and Representatives of the FICCI Presidium in Germany.

Indien und seine Nachbarschaft: Ein Audit von Konflikt und Frieden

Am 10. Und 11. Juli veranstalteten das Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies (IPCS) und die Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Indien eine Konferenz unter dem Titel „India and ist Neighbourhood: An Audit of Conflict and Peace“. Bereits zum neunten mal erstellt das IPCS gemeinsam einen Audit zur Sicherheitslage in Indien und den umliegenden Ländern. Die Konferenz bot den Autoren der Studie und einer Vielzahl von Sicherheitsexperten eine Gelegenheit die bisherigen Erkenntnisse des Audits zu diskutieren.
