The NIAS-KAS workshop on Armed Conflict, Peace Audit and Early Warning

A Decennial Review on issues of peace and conflict during the last ten years

The KAS Liaison Office India, together with the National Institute of Advanced Studies (NIAS), Bangalore organized the tenth annual conference at the NIAS Campus from 8th to 11th June 2016. Prof. D. Suba Chandran, NIAS, Dr. Christian Wagner, Senior Fellow, German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP), Berlin, Prof. Rajaram Nagappa, NIAS, Dr. Baldev Raj, NIAS and other prominent intellects had discussions on the issues of achieving peace and avoiding conflict during the last ten years, and also forecast the next decade.

The conference, which was inaugurated by Prof. Rajaram Nagappa and Dr. Baldev Raj of NIAS, focused on peace and conflict processes both, in India as well as its immediate neighbourhood, while exploring the developments of the last 10 years and attempting to evolve a ‘Peace Map’ which would give a sense of state of affairs at a glance. The conference papers are expected to be compiled into a publication in the near future.

Dr. Christian Wagner also delivered lectures at the Christ University and St. Joseph’s College in Bangalore to very enthusiastic groups of students on various aspects of terrorism and current situation in Europe with regard to migrants, Brexit and such other concurrent issues.
