OUR PARTNER, THE ISRAEL WOMEN’S NETWORK, IS HONORED

AS A LEADING ORGANISATION THAT PROMOTES SOCIAL CHANGE

On June 18, 2008 a special conference took place at the Municipality of Jerusalem in the presence of the City Mayor, Mr. Lupoliansky, the Justice Minister, Prof. Friedman, the Agriculture Minister and Member of Knesset, Mr. Simhon, and former Minister and Member of Knesset, Prof. Shetreet.

The honourable assembly gathered under the auspices of the Council for Social Development to distinguish several NGO’s for their work to implement “Social Responsibility for a Fair Society”.

Among the honoured organisations, the Israel Women’s Network, partner of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung for nearly 20 years, received an award for its commitment to advance social leadership and social change through its legal work.

The public figures who acknowledged the work of the dedicated organisations, stressed the importance of social involvement and responsibility. This is a leading value that must be inculcated from early school years so as to become a way of life. A greater support for social projects on the local and national level will promote cultural integration and achieve a fairer, united and prosperous society.

Through its cooperation with the Israel Women’s Network, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung appreciates the utmost importance of furthering the role of women in society, thus promoting democracy, justice, equality and creating a fairer society. For example, our joint leadership courses have provided thousands of women from all sectors of Israeli society with the tools necessary to play a more active role at the political or social level. This year IWN and KAS have organized special courses to prepare women candidates for the municipal elections and increase their chances of integrating in greater number the local political arena.

We also use this opportunity to congratulate our long-standing partner for this award, which rewards their dedication to the advancement of the status of women in Israel.
