The Evolving Architecture of Terror: ICT Conference 2026

This years World Summit on Counterterrorism, three years after the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023

From 5 to 8 October 2026, the ICT World Summit on Counter-Terrorism in Herzliya brought together international experts to discuss terrorism, technology, and regional security. Marking the third anniversary of the 7 October 2023 attacks, the conference focused on their lasting impact on Israel and the Middle East, while the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Israel hosted a panel with international ambassadors on regional developments, security challenges, and future cooperation.

To honor the anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Germany and Israel, the Konrad Adenauer Foundation held a commemorative event in Berlin on October 16, 2025. On Wednesday, June 18, 2025, the Israel Council on Foreign Relations (ICFR) and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS) hosted a webinar on the current situation between Israel and Iran. The panel consisted of Thomas Röwekamp (Chairman of the Defense Committee of the German Bundestag), Prof. Chuck Freilich (Senior Editor, The Israel Journal of Foreign Affairs) and Dr. Jonathan Spyer (Director of Research, The Middle East Forum) and was moderated by Dr. Efrat Sopher, Chair of the Advisory Board of the Ezri Center for Iran and Gulf States Research, University of Haifa.

Evening event and exhibition opening on the occasion of the 60. anniversary of German-Israeli relations

On May 11, 2025, the opening of the open-air exhibition “The Impossible Friendship - Konrad Adenauer and David Ben-Gurion” with Sharren Haskel and Prof. Dr. Norbert Lammert took place in Tel Aviv on the occasion of 60 years of relations between Israel and Germany.

Visit of Dr. Gerhard Wahlers to Israel and the Palestinian Territories

Against the background of the ongoing political and security crises in Israel, the continuing war in the Gaza Strip and the volatile security situation in the West Bank, Dr. Gerhard Wahlers, Deputy Secretary General of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and Head of the Department for European and International Cooperation, visited the region from 31 March to 3 April 2025. The trip took him not only to Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and southern Israel, but also to Ramallah - and thus provided a nuanced insight into the challenges facing the region more than 18 months after the barbaric terrorist attacks of 7 October.

Vor 100 Jahren wurde nach der Zerschlagung des Osmanischen Reichs das geheime Sykes-Picot-Abkommen zwischen den französischen und britischen Regierungen getroffen. Diese willkürliche Grenzziehung wird heute für die Probleme im Nahen Osten verantwortlich gemacht. Dr. Michael Borchard, Leiter des Auslandsbüros der Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in Israel, sieht dies differenziert. „Ich würde nicht sagen, das Sykes-Picot der Beginn allen Übels war, aber die Aufteilung in verschiedene Zonen lässt auf mangelndes Wissen über den Nahen Osten schließen“, sagte er im Interview mit der Deutschen Welle.
