KAS organized a lecture with the EU Commissioner for Foreign Relations, Benita Ferrero-Waldner, on the topic of "Bilateral Relations between KAS and the European Union." The event, which took place on February 27, 2007, was held in co-operation with the Hebrew University's European Forum.

In recent times, KAS has increasingly addressed the topic of future cooperation between Israel and the EU. Commissioner Ferrero-Waldner gave a keynote address on this issue, which was attended by a huge audience from politics and science. We are above documenting the lecture as a pdf file. According to Ferrero-Waldner, we are witnessing a "nouveau rapprochement" between Israel and the EU which should be used to intensify the relationship.

The subsequent discusson was mostly shaped by young scientists who discussed with the commissioner the role of the EU in the Middle East conflict, the future development of the neighborhood policy, the stance on Iran and the fight against anti-Semitism and xenophobia in Europe.
