KAS Cine Club - Foundation Office Kenya
Event Reports
The film explores the different life styles of Nairobi people. The action moves from traditional beliefs and practices to modern way of life. These two are intertwined by the life in a slum and life in the gated community of Karen, Nairobi. The Film tries to show the similarities these two communities share and how each social status lives in their respective background. It also brings out the aspects of the responsibilities the parents’ behaviours and associations can inflict on their children.
The KAS CINE Club had invited an audience from both the informal and formal settlements and a speaker to give a talk in that movie scenario. Participants discussed and shared a lot on how the movie relates to their socio-political way of life and interactions in Nairobi. Issues of security also came out and were unanimously deliberated from different fronts.
Most of the invited guest indentified with the movie and recommended for more and future cultural outreach events. To them it was their first time for such an activity.
