Amplifying Young People in Parliament Capacity Building for Young Legislators

The recently concluded WYDE Political Parties workshop held on the 4th and 5th August 2025, under the theme: Amplifying Young People in Parliament: Capacity Building for Young Legislators, brought together young legislators to strengthen their capacity to engage effectively in oversight and democratic governance process.

Women Political Leaders Capacity Strengthened

On the 22nd and 23rd of July, KAS Kenya, in collaboration with the KANU Party Women’s Congress, held a two-day capacity building workshop aimed at strengthening the political leadership skills of female leaders within KANU. The workshop is part of the Women and Youth Democratic Engagement (WYDE) Political Parties project funded by the European Union and led by ENoP.

On the 3rd of May 2023, Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) Kenya commemorated 50 years of its presence and work in Kenya. where Hon. Mrs. Mercy Wanjau, the Secretary to the Cabinet of the Republic of Kenya, Mr. Thomas Wimmer, Deputy Ambassador of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, and Mr. Hermann Gröhe Vice Chairman of KAS. The story of KAS work began in Kenya in 1973, when it started to work with the Pan-African Association of Savings and Credit Unions (ASOSCA). Much has happened since then. Today, Kenya is a regional hub and stable democracy. The changes are reflected in the work of KAS, which by now has political partner parties, motivates young people to get involved in politics and is committed to the devolution process, women representation, food security and economic development in Kenya.

Food Security Governance

On the 3rd and 4th February, 2021, KAS Kenya held a workshop with Civil Society Organizations and local media from Baringo Country with the aim of improving their capacities on how best they can engage political decision makers on areas of food security. The two-day forum, enabled the participants on how to map and analyze various personalities within the county so that they can easily sell their agenda aimed at improving livelihoods. The team resolved to undertake a process that will see the county recruit more agricultural and livestock extension officers to help farmers in both crop and livestock production and management.

Soul Boy

The KAS office had its first film oriented cultural outreach program with a screening of a Kenyan themed movie called “Soul Boy”. The movie is shot in Kibera and the actors are locally sourced by a Germany Film Company called One Fine Day Films which has working relationship with Kenya’s Goethe Institute.
