Internship at KAS Malaysia
Asset Publisher
Thank you very much for your interest in an internship with us! Interns are always welcome at KAS Malaysia and you can find information about the requirements for applying, the application process and the areas of internship below.
We currently have no vacancy for interns to work with us but we are accepting applications for the first quarter of 2024.
Before you decide to apply, please read the following information carefully:
We offer insights into the work of an international organization working in Malaysia. KAS Malaysia works together with a number of local partners in the fields of economic development, sustainability, inclusion of women and youth as well as security and we strive to enhance regional and international exchange in order to connect experts and decision makers across the globe and to build bridges.
What to expect of an internship with KAS Malaysia?
With us, you will have the chance to participate in all areas of work - unlike in larger institutions. Therefore, your task will not be limited to a specific area of expertise, but as a member of our team you will gain a deep insight into the entire work of the foundation in the country.
The tasks of our interns include:
- helping to plan, prepare and implement activities and events (conferences, seminars)
- participating in events,
- preparing conference or seminar reports after the events,
- assisting in the editing and issuing of publications,
- content-related research work on different issues, preparing policy analysis and reports
- tasks related to public relations such as website and social media maintenance,
- and supporting day-to-day operations and project management.
Due to the work in a small team, interns should have a high level of team orientation and commitment, which includes, for example, participation in evening and weekend events of KAS and its partner organizations.
Who can apply?
Internships at KAS Malaysia are only possible for Malaysian citizens.
A prerequisite for your application is your well-founded interest in Southeast Asia and Malaysia specifically, in social and political issues as well as in civic education work.
An internship is especially, but not exclusively, suitable for students of political science and other social sciences. Students should be either pursuing their Master degrees or be at an advanced stage of their Bachelor studies and should be familiar with the basics of scientific work. The minimum duration of an internship is usually three months.
We require fluency in written and spoken English as our office language and our language of communication with all our partners is English. German language skills would be an asset.
Also, we expect excellent computer skills as well as an understanding of and an interest in political and social contexts. Special knowledge of the political, social and economic situation in Malaysia is an advantage.
As a member of the KAS team, you will also represent the foundation to the outside world. We therefore expect an open and serious demeanour and the ability and willingness to communicate in an international and intercultural context. Polite manners, a respectful appearance and appropriate clothing are expected.
After successful completion of the internship you will receive a written internship certificate.
We encourage interns to get accident insurance, as KAS MY cannot assume any liability for possible accidents during your internship.
How to apply?
Please send your application to info.malaysia@kas.de including a detailed CV as well as the letter of motivation in English.
Due to a limited capacity to integrate interns into our daily work in a meaningful way, we unfortunately cannot always guarantee the allocation of an internship position.
