The Media Programme South East Europe of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and the Sofia Security Forum invite to the international public discussion “Social Media: Blessing or Curse for Democracy?”

Keynote address will be held by Rosen Plevneliev, President of Bulgaria (2012-2017). Gabriella Cseh, Director Public Policy CEE for Facebook, Ognian Zlatev, Head of EC Representation in Bulgaria, and further experts from South East Europe and Germany will debate:

· the role of social media in the democratic societies
· what risks exist and how to deal with them
· what is the responsibility of the big social platforms like Facebook
· how to raise the awareness and media literacy of the citizens

Moderator: Prof. Claudia Nothelle, Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences

After the discussion the award winning documentary „The Cleaners“ on the topic will be screened. The director Hans Block will attend and answer your questions after that.
