Undoubtedly, journalists in South East Europe face similar problems in their investigations. Yet the exchange of experiences is still insufficiently developed. An interesting facet of the discussion was access to information as citizens’ right and as a tool for journalists. In certain South Eastern European countries, access to information standards are particularly higher than they are, for example, in Germany. Nevertheless, as Rodoljub Sabic, Commissioner for Information of Public Importance and Personal Data Protection, put it in his speech at the conference, journalists hardly make use of the opportunities offered to them by the access to information right.
