9th Congress of the Association of Regional Councils in Rundu

The Association of Regional Councils will host its 9th Congress in Rundu, with Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) participating in the congress, which will conclude on Wednesday, 4 November 2026. The congress will be addressed by the Minister of Urban and Rural Development, Hon. James Sankwasa, who is expected to highlight the critical role of regional councils in bringing development closer to communities and ensuring that councillors take responsibility for Namibia’s collective development. The discussions will also emphasise the importance of enacting by-laws, strengthening the functionality of regional councils and local authorities, addressing internal malpractice and preventing the abuse of public resources. The congress will provide an important platform to reflect on regional governance, accountability and the role of local leadership in advancing Namibia’s development.
