The participants mostly consisted of female Traditional Authorities of the region, as well as community members, widows and single mothers, who are the target group of the project.

Goal of the workshops is that women in the project regions are informed about their rights, the contexts of traditional and codified law and the possible means of legal redress and begin to demand these rights.

The workshop in Onambutu Village was officially opened by a representative of the Eenhana Constituency in the name of the Constituency councilor Hon. Haufiku. The workshop in Elim was officially opened by the Constituency Councilor Hon. Shiimi.

The participants have been trained in the Constitution of Namibia, Human Rights, Family and Inheritance Law with a special focus on the Communal Land Reform Act and the differences between traditional and codified law.

Both workshops were full of life and filled with many questions and discussions. In our community discussions women reported about their challenges in the villages. Women reported that they have a lack of knowledge of their rights and they are asking for more workshops.

Special thanks to the Eenhana and Elim Constituency Council for their support and the possibility to hold the workshops in their respective offices.
